The British Association for Drama Therapists
All 3 associations are under the auspices of the Health Professions Council or HPC. State registration with the appropriate association and HPC is mandatory to work in the NHS

Art Therapist
To start on the post graduate course the minimum entry requirement is a degree in Art and Design or a relevant subject, for example Combined Arts At least 1 year’s full-time experience working in health, social services or education. Applicants without an art degree must demonstrate commitment to and ability in the practice of a visual art and is required to undertake substantial amounts of art practice during their course. Age restrictions normally apply – set by the institution
Music Therapist
To start on the post graduate course the minimum entry requirement isTo start on the post graduate course the minimum entry requirement is:
- A degree in music or an equivalent subject. Where a degree qualification is not related to music, the applicant must be able to demonstrate musical ability equivalent to that expected at degree level
- At least 1 year’s full-time experience working in health, social services or education
- Assessment of personality and suitability for the work also forms part of the interview
- Age restriction normally applies – set by the institution.
Drama Therapist
To start on the post graduate course the minimum entry requirement is
- A degree in drama or psychology or an equivalent subject
- At least 1 year’s full-time experience working in health, social services or education
- Assessment of personality and suitability for the work also forms part of the interview
