Course objectives:
These intensive courses have a high practical content and are designed for medical officers and biomedical scientists. The courses concentrate on the identification in the laboratory of those parasites of medical importance (both indigenous and imported) likely to be seen in Western Europe. The malaria course concentrates on the biology and differential diagnosis of malaria in the laboratory but other blood-related parasites are also included. Each course comprises a series of mini lectures by specialist staff, followed by extensive practical work.
