Course objectives:

Our programmes adopt a new case based approach to learning and teaching that focuses on patients and encourages students to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes required for the safe delivery of effective nursing care.

All modules integrate theory and practice elements which contribute to admission of the Professional Register. Placements are undertaken in a variety of hospital and community settings from theatre and accident and emergency to outpatients and working with older people.

Course objectives:

This course specialises in caring for and supporting sick adults in a variety of settings, including hospitals, the community and with independent/voluntary organisations.

You will learn how to assess the needs of the patient, communicate effectively with professional colleagues, and provide sensitive support for the patient and their families.

You will also develop leadership and management skills required to motivate and supervise others.

In Year 1 you will study foundations of knowledge and skills for nursing, foundations in professional practice and contemporary contexts of health.

In Year 2 you will study units in application of knowledge and skills for nursing care, evidence for practice and global perspectives in nursing.

Units in Year 3 include a dissertation unit, dimensions of health and nursing, and practice transition to
professional practice.
